L’ENFANT ET LES SORTILEGES

Video imagery for a staging of Ravel’s L’Enfant Et Les Sortileges at the Royal Festival Hall.

Conductor – Esa Pekka Salonen,  Orchestra – Philarmonia Orchestra.

The production utilised two 12K Projectors mapped onto the Royal Festival Hall organ, and 2 pieces of scenery, one round and one rectangular. Imagery created using After Effects and Final Cut Pro manipulating newly shot imagery of ink underwater, and various animations of clocks changing shape in time with the music.

***** Financial Times (” Against a backdrop of subtle video projections, ranging from a cat to a demented clock face — the cast grabbed every opportunity for high jinx.”).
**** The Guardian (“clever staging of L’Enfant et les Sortilèges”).
Boulezian Blog (“a resourceful staging giving all that we really needed, not least thanks to imaginative animation (for instance, the confusion of the clock) and atmospheric lighting.”).
